Problems
Prior to setting up the users workstation the following must be set up on the server.
Each user must have a login to the NT server. Optimally, there would be a login script that sets
the username and maps the Dynalogic drive for their login session.
- [username]
- The first eight characters of the user name assigned is used as the ‘uid’
(user id) in the Dynalogic system.
For example: if USER=LAURASTERN, the Dynalogic user id is LAURASTE.
Each Dynalogic user must have a home directory created for them prior to their first entry
into the accounting system. To create a home directory:
- Position to the server root directory
- Position to home directory ---> cd dyn
(create it if not there)
- create the users directory ----> mkdir [username]
The following must be set up on each Dynalogic users workstation.
The server drive must be mapped for the user's machine. If it is not, then map through the Tools
option from Explorer.
From the user' machine, run the WISP wconfig utility located in the DYN\WISP\BIN directory
on the server. If a registry file had been exported during the Wisp installation, this file can be
imported into the client machine. If there is not an export file, contact your Dynalogic support
analyst if you need help with this step.
- From the user' machine, right click the mouse
- Select New Shortcut
- Input for the command line ---->'x':\DYN\DYFA53.BAT
where 'x' is your mapped server drive name
- Input for working directory --->'x':\DYN
- Select the Memory tab
- Change the Initial Environment from Auto to 4096
Please contact your support analyst at Dynalogic if you have questions.
A Usage Constants Default file, one per user, stores the last directory and
parameter values set by the user. These values are contained in the PERSONALITY
file stored in the user’s home directory.
For a new user, you can preset the Usage Constants by running the program WSHELL
located in directory DYN\WISP\BIN
To set an existing user's Default Usage Constants, log in as the user.
The default values can be changed at any time from the WISP Command Processor
screen accessible by pressing HELP from the Dynalogic Main Menu.
The HELP key is usually ESC or HOME on Windows workstations.
Press function key 2 - SET FILE USAGE CONSTANTS - and set as follows:
| INLIB | =DYFA53LI
| | INVOL | =VOL444
|
| OUTLIB | =DYFA53LI
| | OUTVOL | =VOL444
|
| RUNLIB | =DYFA53OB
| | RUNVOL | =VOL444
|
| SPOOLLIB | =#uidPRT
| | SPOOLVOL | =VOL444
|
| WORKLIB | =xxxxxxxx
| | WORKVOL | =VOL444
|
Press ENTER to set
Press function key 3 - SET PRINT MODE DEFAULTS - and set as follows:
| PRNTMODE | =K | (Keep as file)
|
| PRTCLASS | =A
|
|
| FORM_NUM | =000
|
|
| PRINTER | =001 | (Must be > 0)
|
| LINES | =055
|
|
Press ENTER to set
Press function key 13 - SAVE ENVIRONMENT
Press ENTER to save the PERSONALITY
After setting up the user's icon (see Create Dynalogic Icon),
you can access the Dynalogic system. The following messages may appear:
- Bad command or filename
- Make sure the CODE-PREFIX field in the ACUFIG53 file in DYN\WISP\CONFIG
has been modified to point to the correct server mapped drive.
- XPROCFIL not found
- Make sure the Usage Constants have been set for this User Id.
After the usage constants have been set, press function key 1 CONTINUE PROCESSING
to return to this screen. Input DYFA53LI for the library and VOL444 for the volume
and then press ENTER.
If you continue to get this error message, press
function key 5 from this
screen to view the native path. The native path should translate the volume assignment (VOL444) into the correct path
name for the file. If this doesn't look correct, then either VOL444 is not assigned correctly in LGMAP, or the drive hasn't
been mapped correctly, or the volume input on the Usage Constants screen was input incorrectly.
- Error in User Id File - Contact Dynalogic, Inc.
- This message should appear the first time the user tries to access the Dynalogic software.
Press ENTER.
- Please assign XPROC - XPROCFIX
- The library most likely displays OB. Change that to DYFA53OB
and then press ENTER
At this point, the Dynalogic copyright screen should appear briefly followed by the
Welcome to the DYNALOGIC FUND ACCOUNTING System Main Menu.
Input your current set of books and press ENTER.
The new user only has READ ONLY access rights to the Dynalogic System. User rights can be
assigned by your Dynalogic systems administrator using the
User Id / Security Functions
(function key 21 on the Setup Menu).
The following problems can be encountered when setting up a new user:
In program BEGIN53: Index out of bounds - upper index 45 - current index 0
This error can occur if you had manually added the new user's record from the User Id /
Security Functions program (function key 21) off the Setup Menu, before accessing the Dynalogic system
with this user id.
To fix:
- From the User Id / Security program, Delete the user record.
- Do NOT re-add the user with the User Id / Security program
- Access the Dynalogic system using the user's login Id
CoStar - licensing problem
When running WSHELL to set up a new user's environment, this message appears if the user
does not have correct NT access rights to the directory containing the CoStar network license file.
"Invalid runtime license has been installed on this machine.
Run the Wisp wlicense to install correct Wisp license."
A DOS screen briefly appears when Dynalogic icon pressed and that's it
Chances are that there is an error message that is displayed but since it happens so quickly it's hard
to read the message. We have encountered some situations that you may want to check out first.
see Dos Errors
If none of these seem to be the problem, then we need to find out where the error is
occurring.
Generate a Wdiag report
To assist Dynalogic with determining the source of your problem, do the following steps to create a Wdiag report.
- From the Client machine, go to the Command Prompt
- Type in the Drive Map letter (such as F:)
- go to the root level of your mapped drive (so the prompt is F:\)
- cd dyn (if it can't find the path, Stop: the mapped drive is specified incorrectly)
- cd wisp4406
- cd bin
- type the following: wdiag.exe > out.test
- there will be an out.test file in the dyn\wisp4406\bin\ directory
- send that file to Dynalogic (support@Dynalogicinc.com)
Windows 98 systems
Check the path defined for your system prior to accessing the Dynalogic system. If the path
contains any directories with embedded spaces (such as Program Files), you must edit the
DY53SET.BAT file under the DYN directory. Locate the SET PATH statement. Include " (quote marks)
around the %PATH% variable.
NT Systems
This usually happens if the Client Machine is not mapped correctly. To check the mapping do the following:
- From the Clients machine, go to the Command Prompt
- Type in the Drive Map letter (such as F:)
- go to the root level of your mapped drive (so the prompt is F:\)
- cd dyn (if it can't find the path, then the mapped drive is specified incorrectly)
